Echoes

Echoes is a new synth band out of London. I first discovered them via the always great Kulpop. If you are fan of Bright Light Bright Light, Lorraine/Black Room or the great pop bands of the 80's, they are worth your attention. The music is melodic, layered and not at all lo-fi. They are so new that their first show will be at the Garage, in London, opening for Matt & Kim and my fave, Penguin Prison. It's on Wednesday, March 23rd and you can buy tickets.

Here are some tracks - note they dared to remix Kate Bush's This Woman's Work and it works! You can download all of these via their Soundcloud.

Kate Bush - This Woman's Work (Echoes Remix)

Echoes - Footprints

Echoes - It Goes On

You can follow Echoes, as one does, on Le Twitter

The Kate Bush remix isn't a game changer, but like you indicated, the fact that it even remotely works is stunning on its own. All of this great synth pop coming out right now.

Except for an Ashley Beedle rework of Running Up That Hill, I have not been impressed with any re-tweeking of La Bush...until now. Thanks for the Echoes heads-up, XO. Love this mix. As I am suffering from a head-cold, that remix made my morning just that little bit lovelier! Also, lovin' Footprints.

Kate always helps, Zen. Before I heard the mix, I thought, "Hmmm, dangerous choice for a remix, given the content." But yes it really works. Thank God it's not a Hi-NRG mix!

Oh, thank God for that! We don't need a re-tweek from the likes of the goddawful Moto Blanco or The Almighty.

slightly unrelated but oh my gosh, kate bush was sort of on UK television tonight for the always dreadful Lets Dance for Comic Relief. Some "comedian" did a dance to Wuthering Heights and kate sent in a message saying how much she loved it. Her biggest tv appearance in years!!

The good thing about a thoroughly decent track/remix is that it demands a new CD be burnt off (I still root for 80 minutes of 'programmed' music pleasure, rather than the randomness of iPods, etc)! The Echoes remix of 'This Woman's Work' sits very comfortably between Bat For Lashes' of DM's 'Strangelove' and Wolfram's Johan Agebjorn remix of 'Fireworks'. Lovely.
