The Middle Eight

I grew up to the beat of electronic drums

The launch of Starsmith

What do you think? It would be quite tremendous if it weren't, you know, a loop and had a verse or two and maybe a chorus. ? You would not know it from this track, but he does actually sing, so it'll be interesting to hear one of those tracks. This, however, is not what I expected.

Will it work in clubs?

i'm ever so slightly disappointed :/ I expected something... more. Oh well. Perhaps it will grow on me...

Anything that plunders the soundtrack to _Can't Stop The Music_ can't be all bad.

    Sounds very generic.

Yeah...it just sounds like an endless intro loop. For all we know, the rest of it could be epic, but it's a good start.

Where is that sample from? Pointer Sisters?

I pretty much agree with you and John--the loop vibe generally isn't a good one and this doesn't ascend to the heights of some of the few great dance songs with very basic vocal parts/samples. Disappointing, too, that the b-side also not only doesn't feature his vocals but doesn't feature any vocals--not that you'd expect a more fully developed track for the b-side, but if both the songs are underwhelming, it's difficult to stay excited.
