WOW: Ellie Goulding's arrival

If you've been tiptoeing around the edges of Ellie Goulding, this song, Under The Sheets, will literally suck you into her cosmos. Absolutely amazing, modern pop music.

Don't you love it when a new artist slams up against your sense this way? BOOM. She's here.

gosh - what the hell was that. see what you mean about slamming.

Its like someone accidentally lopped off a bit of bjork, and it fell into a can of catfood (in a catfood processing plant in iceland - because bjork obv. tours those...) the can then got shipped to cornwall, and then fed to a cat which then sang into ellie gouldings ear while she was sleeping - only it didn't sing an original song, it sang a duet between frou frou and imogen heap.

thats what it sounded like (roughly)

    I liked. much.

What? All that and you LIKED it? Hmmm. I am skeptical!

    wow. that is a jam.

Hmmmmm....I am yet to be won over by this mucho blog-approved artist and track. Just sounds like a glitchy version of any nameless/faceless chart number. It took me a while to warm to Frankmusik, so we'll see.....

In some cases, blog approved means PR pushed. That is not the case for this song. Check out Ellie's other tunes online (Wish I Stayed, Guns and Horses, Starry Eyed). That may give you a sense of who she is. It was produced with Ellie by Starsmith, who is pretty new and very talented. It probably works against Ellie that she has that blond hair. Too many blonds now in pop! To quote The Beautiful South, "When blond and blond are multipled, they become so dull dutiful."

    Nice song.

XO, I'll hunt down those other trax and give Ellie a listen. I do take heed of your musical recommendations, probably because we tend to meet somewhere nicely in the middle with our combined influences and musical favourites.

Don't know if you remember emailing me a Frankmusik mp3 eons ago and I was still unsure if he'd pique my interest or not. Well, Vacant Heart and Run Away From Trouble are easily TWO of my favourite tracks of 2009, especially the dramatic and moving latter track.

I like the song but I'm kind of bored of people singing in such an affected fashion.

Im really liking her music, she's supporting Little Boots at the end of the month, im going to see, but in all honesty i'll be looking more forward to seeing Ellie :D
