Review: Mika's The Boy Who Knew Too Much

We are not what you think we are. We are golden, we are GOLDEN

My pets - Lucinda and Jasper - review the new Mika album:
This is shit. WHO are these wailing cats? We could have done these vocals much better. End of.
Seriously. Rain, One Foot Boy and the Imogen Heap duet were all I could take from this glampop shriek-fest. Fans will like this album because it's more of the Big Girls version of Mika (versus the Relax or the more subdued My Interpretation version). Note to the artist: You are no longer a boy. Put the toy diggers away, get your clothes on and step out of that kid's room.

AFTER READING: You were nicer than you could have been :) Rain is rather nice isn't it? I guess i like hyper theatrical music!!

I never really bought into the whole Mika hype - seriously, what is so attractive about this guy's music? There are a couple songs that I do like, but overall, he seems like (as you implied) an overgrown kid acting at being an adult. It's one thing to feel younger than you are and to act like it in some ways, but this is beyond what I would consider okay.

We know you're a Broadway ho, Paul!

Dan, it's actually the reverse, yes? An adult acting at being an overgrown kid .

Mika's new album: 1.3/5

Your cats: 5/5

XO - yes, you are correct. That's what I get for posting a comment first thing in the AM. ;)

I bet the cats are more pleasing on the ears--can Mika not simply sing a song in a normal range without somehow destroying it?

The felines are quite beautiful, but I would think the fur could be a challenge...

My cats did it first. So there.

I seriously want your cats.

Too bad the UK has a quarantine Doron - they do like world travel in a carpetbag. With the Miss Alans.

I bought this album - the mans definitely got it, but he also has creepy fixation on childhood that you mentioned - and alas poor mika can't peddle that sort of crap for too many more years without it all becoming a bit wrong - if I were his BF I would slap him, tell him to cut the falsetto and just bring it down a few octaves - so many of the songs on this album would sound hawt if it weren't for that frikkin falsetto.

No mention of touches you? thats my favourite - I have to wince an skip through much of the rest of the album.

strange man... what kind of image do you think hes trying to build for himself? some sort of asexual reincarnation of a addled freddie mercury?
