Quote of the Week: Róisín Murphy

UPDATE! Roisin never said this.

Róisín Murphy, to The Daily Mail:

Lady Gaga is just a poor imitation of me.
Hilarious! For more on what Róisín thinks of That Woman, see the Róisín Murphy Blog or RTE.

Update: Watch the interview below and you'll see (at about 7:38) the light tone in which she speaks about Gaga. The thing about Róisín is that I don't imagine her easily open to be intimidation.

Lady GaGa doesn't really bother me (as far as pop music entities go), though her music doesn't really float my boat. I love that Roisin said what she said. Gotta love the feisty Irish!

While both women are arguably talented (Gaga CAN play piano), one of them does seem to display more warmth and subtlety in her delivery, and that one (Murphy) is the one I will likely be listening to years from now, and will not have grown tired of.

Roisin has a point when it comes to the fashion thing as well, and while both women borrow from previous fashion mavens (Grace Jones), Murphy just does it with more style and "grace". SHE wears the clothes, they don't wear HER.

Brilliant! And spot on. Absolutely love Roisin.

Nothing in particular against Lady G (except her age... 22! Um, if you say so), and she's obviously so far been more commercially successful than Our Lady, but we'll see how she plays out.

That's why you should never believe what you read in the shitty Daily Mail!

Roisin, my dear, I love you- but you live in a glass house next door to the thrift store that Grace Jones has been donating to for the past 20 years...
