I grew up to the beat of electronic drums
That's clearly a stunt dancer for the en pointe shots, xo.
I predict this is going to be a monster-hit for her. Easily a #1 song. Hell, it's already at #72 on the HOT 100 in only its 2nd week on the chart. (It debuted at #91 last week). :)
Completely concur, this is a pop masterpiece. Do we know who wrote/produced this little gem? It's very Madonna in those metallic bits, imho, because it's a direct rip from the Fever video.Only flaw here is that shouting binman at the beginning. Why oh why? Perhaps there's a Freemasons remix waiting to happen where, a la Deja Vu, they tactfully edit him out.
Fantabulosa. I love that meaty backing track in the chorus. And her voice, it's unique in the popdom at the minute. Beyonce should on that phone be booking her Rhianna class right now.
VERY classy this clip is, innit? I remember when the "S.O.S" clip first aired and saying it looked as if Rihanna was starting to get serious about this whole being a pop star thing. Seeing as that whole second album was an absolute mess, I don't have high hopes for the third, but am secretly hoping it's mindblowing after this very promising lead single.
The only other song I've heard from it is one with NeYo that's pretty good.
You know what, I like to think of Rihanna as Def Jam's lab rat. Every year, Jay Z hands her an 'experimental' but surefire hit, then throws in her way a couple of pretty good songs and a dozen fillers in an attempt to get an album out. And so far it's been working great. Her sophomore was actually worse than the debut, and still it sold twice as much. So I think it's better to walk into her third with very low expectations.
