The Diva Commentary

Which bubbleheaded blond's new song do I like? Which same song makes me want to throw myself off a bridge for liking? Which same song again interpolates the grandest moment of the grandest song of Miss Ross?...Meanwhile, I still don't care for Janet Jacksonifyou'renasty's lameass new "Call On Me" song which features a pathetic rapper feature with Nelly trying to sing. Big letdown from Janet...I have now heard three new tracks by Xtuna Aguilera and I couldn't give a shit. I commend her for being brave and doing something different that she believes in, but would you realllly want to listen to these songs in your car over and over?...Bouncey, turn your million-dolla badonkadonk right back 'round and start over cuz the screechy "Deja Vu" is and no one cares about Jay Z's lame battle with Cristal. He needs to pick a worthy cause and she needs to stop yelling her way through her own songs.

(can you tell I am a bit cunty today?)

Now, now... tell us what you're REALLY feeling. Don't be afraid. You know what I'm talking about... a certain Jessica Simpson song? We'll still love you like we always did. Come out of the Public Affair closet!

But she's an IDIOT who cannot sing?! I just can't discuss it openly. :)

Oh, she's a TOTAL idiot! No doubt about it. I just love that broads like her, Rihanna and Nelly Furtado are now embracing their inner-Kylie and gettin' their pop on!

Paul, let's tie XO up with Jessica's thong and tickle him with her wig.

I have not posted my Keane review. I am pondering it. For some reason I think I should have heard this CD cold with no press and no leaks. Anyway, stay tuned. We did you a favor though b/c you are pleasantly surprised.

I do not like to be tied up. I like to be in control. :) wink wink nudge nudge

oh xo you are missing out re your last sentence but i'll leave it there as it could lead into a VERY embarrassing hotel room story.

Shock! I love the new Keane cd 71% as much as the old one. I did a scientific calculation which i will post if i can be bothered...

Did ya'll notice that Oxygen Chunks is now asking for CREDIT if you post a song they posted? (not that I would)

What fucking idiots! It's like, "We Demand An RIAA Letter!"

Funny thing about the Keane/Snow Patrol scene is that both bands released what were probably the worst album tracks as the first singles. When I heard both discs front to back, the songs made much more sense in the overall context, and I do think both are good if not very good. On the other hand, Furtado's "Maneater" made me much more interested in the project than I would have been without hearing anything bar "Promiscuous". Guess it's all subjective, really. That being said, haven't heard the Janet, but heard nothing good about it, have heard the Beyonce, and it was serviceable but not overwhelming, and Xtina is OK--at least she is trying, I guess. I shudder at the thought of J. Simp. after "Boots...", but I'll reserve judgement.

BTW, the Divine Comedy CD is AMAZING--just a bunch of great character sketch songs. I also heard the new Ed Harcourt, which is sadly underrated, and his best for a few years (Rufus Wainwright meets Coldplay). I'm also enjoying the Dannii Minogue 2disc collection as a guilty pleasure, and Pet Shop Boys, of course. Also, if you like Depeche Mode, I cannot recommend the three just-released remasters enough! The documentaries are amazing! (30 mins each--Violator, Music for the Masses & Speak & Spell). Can't wait for the rest!

Thanks to XOlondon for Pipettes info--you got me interested in yet another act!

Anybody here heard the new Scott Walker CD? Play at your own risk, but I wouldn't do it alone after 9pm...terrifying.

I can only deal with OLD Scott Walker! :)

Agreed re Divine Comedy and I really like Ed H's new song Revolution In The Heart.

Beyonce is so SCREECHY on that song! Hurts my ears.
