I grew up to the beat of electronic drums
This must have completely passed me by at the time. It's like the love child(ren) of English Beat and Dexy's Midnight Runners.
You have really been working up my nostalgia lately...first Style Council, then Haircut 100, and now this! What with the mentions of Dexys & EB, what goodies will you serve up next? There were so many good songs from this era, including Costello, Specials, Madness, Kinks("Come Dancing" period), even Tracey Ullman-via-Kirsty MacColl on "They Don't Know". Some guesses for future posts: Bronski Beat? ABC? Talk Talk? Frankie Goes to Hollywood? Propaganda? OMD? Humpe Humpe? Spandau Ballet? Visage? Ah, the dawning of MTV--such simpler times when all we had was a cold war. Keep the hits coming...
Another request--Scritti Politti? They have a fantastic new CD coming out in July (already out in the UK). Much more moody, stripped down, and experimental than the Cupid85 stuff, but still ace. Only four albums in 20 years! Talk about perfectionist...or is it laziness?
I will see what I can do for your nostalgia fix! There are several other bloggers who probably like this stuff. That video is kind of rare actually. I like most of what you mentioned so stay tuned!
Good to know others on the nostalgia trip! Good to know the names Visage, Propoganda and Bronski Beat are still mentioned. :)
